I love planning engagement sessions with my couples! It is a collaborative effort to choose a location, style, and time of day that represents their unique relationship.
Emily & Abdo’s decision to have their engagement photoshoot in DTLA (Downtown Los Angeles) felt simply perfect! DTLA brought in the vibrant variety of the art district, sweeping Hollywood views, and offered Emily & Abdo the space to express their personalities.
The art district offers great built-in backdrops and awesome shadows at the right time of day. The neutral color palettes of Emily & Abdo’s outfits made the fun and colorful backdrops of DTLA pop!
When I go through these photos, I see a story being told as the light changes. From the top of the blog post, you can see how I lean into the brighter and stronger light that is coming from the sun. The bodies and angles are different as the night progresses. This is part of the fun of being a professional photographer — capturing the couple’s personalities while using light to highlight mood throughout our session.
These stairs! Please tell me how more couples have not heard of these gorgeous stairs in DTLA. Actually, maybe we should keep them a hidden gem because it was amazing to shoot on the steps and not have crowds of people!
